Date 3 July 2009 30-day juice fast, Michele's Life Author by Comments 12 Comments

Hey, y’all. I didn’t want you to be wondering why day 18 of this 30-day juice fast wasn’t posted, so I thought I’d fill you in: I didn’t get any sleep last night because of back pain. An old back injury flared up yesterday and by last night I was hurting too bad to sleep. Since I didn’t get any sleep, I’ve had a migraine all day and as I type this, I’m about to throw up my head and back are hurting so badly. I will be fine. I’ve experienced things like this for years because of back injuries from domestic violence. Also, sometimes while juice fasting old injuries flare up and hurt worse than when they even happened because the body is in healing mode. I did document everything in my notebook, though, so I’ll still post day 18 juices, etc.

I know there are a lot of you following this journey, but I also know you understand that I just don’t have it in me to post today’s details.

And to those of you who celebrate, have a happy, safe, and blessed 4th of July weekend!!! :-)

Oh no, I realy hope you feel better soon :( Take good care of yourself! Get lots of rest! Domestic violence should just never happen, but sadly I’v wittnessed my fair share of that as well :( It’s no good. Really sorry to hear that!

Thanks so much, Jocelyn!! I appreciate your sweet words!! And I’m so glad our cyber paths have crossed. You’re just the bestest gal!!! (I mailed your package (yesterday), by the way!!) :-)

I’ll be okay. I’ve dealt with this for years. Yes, domestic violence is atrocious and I only wish it never happened to anyone. Unfortunately, it’s not just the victim who experiences it but everyone who loves that victim–including friends, family, co-workers, etc. It’s a domino effect…

I am feeling a little better today. I still have a slight headache, but the worst of the migraine is over. My back is still really bother me, though. I may have to see the chiropractor on this one!!!

Hope your weekend is fantabulous, girl!!

Feel better! Being sick is never fun. I’m so sorry you were involved in domestic violence. That should NEVER be acceptable.

I hope you’re feeling better, Michele. Is your back pain muscular or skeletal? Have you ever tried practicing yoga? It helped with an old (child abuse related) back injury of mine.

    Be well,
    Cyn

Both, actually Cyn. My spine is messed up and I also have to work at keeping the inflammation down that flares up in my muscles. I got a little carried away with cleaning floors, etc., to prepare for company and the holiday and overdid it. I do know that old injuries do flare up when my body is in healing mode on these longer juice fasts too, though. I’ll be fine. It has just really “taken it out of me” but I always expect the bad phases to come with the good. Thanks for caring!! :-)

I forgot to mention in my earlier response, Cyn, that I haven’t tried yoga. I did try Pilates, but must have done some moves wrong because it put me down in the bed for several days with my back out of sorts…. I have been interested in Pilates for a while, though.

    Hey Michele,
I think you would LOVE Pilates! Find a good book, take it slow and easy and build your core strength… it not only does wonders for your all over body strength (and you’ll find so many things are just easier to do) but tones up your core section beautifully. (you’ll FEEL it and SEE it)

best part is you don’t need equipment, dvd’s, tv’s or anything.. just you, a mat and some fresh air!

I do Pilates most days and when I do it consistently, I REALLY notice it and when I DON’T …. the same. I really notice it. I did Pilates during pregnancy too (modified). Feels so good to BREATH, STRETCH and STRENGHTEN!

If you’ve been interested in trying it….. GO FOR IT!
    I think you’ll love it!

btw, in my home, I (yes ME) am the only one who can do a baby holding marathon and not get wiped. The Teen and the Hubs can only carry him for a bit before getting beat…. some days, like when teething… i’ve held little guy for a chunk of the day and (yes, it’s draining) but …YEAH…. I am the CHAMP! yeah for a strong CORE! (they hold him with thier backs and I don’t)

sorry for rambling…I heart pilates! haha

Wow, Cindy, thanks for telling me this!! I had tried Pilates in the past (I have several DVDs that my Mom got for me) but I must’ve done something wrong because (and I can’t figure out which move it was!!) I ended up in the bed for days with bad back pain. :-(

I do have a mat (somewhere around here) so I might try it again when the back pain I have now eases up more. Thanks for the inspiration/motivation!! I absolutely, definitely need a stronger core. That’d be so very nice!!!

And, hey, you’re welcome to ramble here any time you want!!!!
    :-)
