I snatched this Lucuma powder right up when I went on my $50 iHerb shopping spree. I have other plans for it, too, but I thought I’d throw it in the latest craving: Chocolate-Covered (Tart) Cherry Smoothie. It really did enhance the flavor and texture – I love it!
Evan (from Food Makes Fun Fuel) dumps Lucuma on his yogurt! Haven’t tried that yet, have you?

Chocolate-Covered BUBBLES!
Chocolate-Covered (Tart) Cherry Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons cocoa powder (I used the NOW brand, certified organic.) 1 tablespoon Lucuma powder (I used Navitas Naturals, certified organic.) 2 tablespoons tart cherry concentrate (I’ll be sharing an in-depth post on this soon – this stuff changed. my. life!) 1 frozen banana 4 ice cubes 1/2 to 1 cup of almond milk (I started with a 1/3 cup and added a little more – but with 1/3 cup, it was more like raw ice cream!)![]()
Directions:
Toss ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy this rich, decadent drink!Note: I’m used to the tart cherry concentrate but it might be a bit strong for you if you aren’t. This smoothie is really, really chocolatey and the tart cherry shines through nicely. It’s not bitter, it’s delish! But if you aren’t a fan of even a slight bit of tartness, you may want to balance out the smoothie with either more sweetener, less tart cherry concentrate – or just use sweet cherries.
Have you ever made a chocolate-covered smoothie? (I’m sure Katie has!) What is your all-time favorite smoothie? I love green smoothies most – especially when hemp protein and spinach are involved! But some days, Raw Juice Girl just needs a little chocolate in her life.

Aw!! You’re most welcome, Nicole!! *hugs*
Hmmm… I don’t actually have a Whole Foods store (never even been to one) so I’m not sure. But I did a quick Google search and it appears some may carry it and others don’t? I hope you find it!!
Hugs,
Michele

Thanks for sharing, Bitt! I kind of thought that about lucuma. I’m glad I had the nanner in my smoothie to add to the sweetness.

Hi, Ashlei!
Yeah, this was a delish smoothie!
You can go ahead and make it without the lucuma, though. It would still be yummy – just add a different sweetener to balance the tartness of the cherry juice.
Hugs,
Michele

I love making spinach smoothies and then adding frozen cherries and vanilla protein powder to switch it up. I’ve never heard of concentrate though.

Your smoothies sound good, too!
Yes, I’ve drank tart cherry concentrate for several years now. I will be writing an in-depth post about it in the near future. As I’ve shared before, I live with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia and tart cherry concentrate has helped me fight the inflammation and control it.

My favorite smoothie combo is frozen bananas, plain yogurt, PB2, cocoa powder, and spinach!

I love how smooth your blender makes your smoothies!! I will definitely be buying an awesome blender when I move out to get my own place.
Also.. I want to try Lacuma Powder one of these days… I’m becoming really curious after hearing so much about it.

Thanks so much! My blender is an Oster and it does a really good job! I’m pleased with it. Of course, I always fantasize about a Vita-Mix and all the neat tricks it can do – but I can’t complain with Oster’s performance!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on lucuma.
Hugs,
Michele

This looks really good, although I am not a chocolate person. I think I would try it just for the presentation! Well done and thank you for sharing.

There is a chocolate cherry smoothie recipe in Matthew Kenney’s Everyday Raw that I like alot, though yours looks really good as well. My favorite smoothie is simple, just ingredients, but adds up to more than the sum of its parts: 2 large mangoes, 1 whole bunch of cilantro, and 2 cups of water. Blend together and you get an electric green, creamy and super refreshing smoothie.
