Welcome to the family!

We have a winner!! I know everyone’s excited and anxious so I’ll just get right to it. The contest for the yoga mat (from The Bolder Mat Company) and the yoga DVD (by Stacy McCarthy, of Yoga Nama Stacy) has now ended. We owe a BIG thank you to both of these companies for sponsoring the review and contest and allowing us the amazing opportunity to enjoy their healthy products!

By the way, it always hurts me that I can’t give away whatever prize I’m offering to each and every one of you… :-(

On to business: There were 65 comments in all, and I used random.org to select a winner.

Here’s Mr. Random’s answer:

So, who was the lucky owner of comment #58?

PlaidEarthWorm (Beth Bartlett, of www.plaidearthworm.com)!!

Her winning comment said:

You should get the pingback, but I thought I’d let you know I also mentioned you and the contest on my personal blog: http://plaidearthworm.livejournal.com/21207.html

Her first comment (there was seven ways to enter):

Before today, the last time I tried to do yoga a year ago, I cried, because I was too heavy to do the poses anymore, and didn’t have enough room in my living room to move my big body. Today I did 45 min. of yoga b/c I’m 90 lbs lighter. It felt great! I’d love to win Fish Wish, so I can keep swimming upstream against the stress.

Congratulations!

I’m so happy for you, Beth! Comment #45 is a real tearjerker, in my opinion! Let me tell you, folks: Beth has been on a journey to improve her health. I’ve lost over 100 pounds myself, so I know that her losing 90 pounds is NO EASY TASK! I commend her for sticking to it and keeping her eye on the prize.  She’s persevered and deserves applause–and this prize! *claps hands*

So, keep swimming, Beth. Keep swimming! Just zip me an email (healingwithjuices at gmail dot com)with your mailing information and I’ll get it to the companies. They’ll be in touch with you and you’ll get to tell them you want that Fish Wish mat. I know you’ll enjoy years of yoga with your mat and DVD. Yay!

Didn’t win?

Don’t worry! There are a TON of upcoming contests!!

You’ll definitely want to stay tuned!

19 August 2009

First, I’d love to extend a HUGE thank you to Rick Diamond of The Book Publishing Company (www.bookpubco.com), as well as both authors, Nomi Shannon and Sheryl Duruz, for making this contest possible!

If you’ve been following this blog, you know that I just reviewed two raw food books: The Raw Gourmet and Raw Food Celebrations. After publishing the reviews, I launched a contest for both books and last night that contest came to an end. So today, you get to find out who won! How exciting is that?!

Feel free to read the in-depth reviews I wrote for each book:

The Winner

I used random.org to select the winner, and it chose comment # 16 — and that’s Mika!

these cookbooks would be great for the raw food potlucks and events that are going on in my small but sweet town. we have 5 raw foodists that are putting a community together via fun get-togethers, events and of course yummy food :)

The Raw Gourmet and Raw Food Celebrations will help you expand your raw food wisdom, Mika, and those get-togethers won’t be so small any more, huh?! Congratulations and best wishes on all your raw food adventures! Be sure to email me (healingwithjuices@gmail.com) with your mailing address and I’ll get your books in the mail early next week!

1 August 2009

I can hardly believe this is day 15 of my 30-day juice fast!!

Last night I slept well again. I jumped up this morning and discovered I was out of lemon! So… no warm lemon water this morning. :-( I grabbed my Amazing Grass shaker cup, added some ice, a scoop of Amazing Grass Green SuperFood powder and some leftover cucumber-apple juice, and also grabbed my bottle of water with organic apple cider vinegar (a tablespoon) and left to run some errands (including picking up some lemons!).

On the way home, I stopped at that Amish produce stand again and bought some more beets (forgot to take a photo of ‘em this time–sorry!) and then came home….

Lunch

After a busy morning, I decided to drink more of my cucumber-apple juice (it’s so refreshing!!!) and added another (yes, a second scoop for today!) of Amazing Grass Green SuperFood powder. I decided to drink my grass outside. :-)

I had drank half of that juice when I realized I hadn’t taken a photo of it! I was getting ready to start this blog post so I just snapped a photo at the laptop. :-) It was a beautiful, rich color and the taste was  simply divine!

And a Winner!

It’s awesome to finally be able to find out which lucky reader wins the Living Tree Community contest (a 16 ounce jar of Coconut Mango Persimmon Butter AND an 8 ounce jar of Raw Almond Butter–both organic!!)

I used Random.org to select a winner. There was a whopping 164 comments (whoa!) and it generated the #10….

15 June 2009

Here’s a big thank you to TropicalTraditions.com (and Dawn Campbell, Marketing Manager), for being so kind as to sponsor this contest and allow you (my fantabulous readers!!!) the opportunity to win a giant jar of their amazing virgin coconut oil and a book so you can learn all about it!

What a great contest!! I absolutely loved reading each and every comment and was so honored by your compliments, touched by your desire to try out Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil, and felt so much compassion as I read your reasons for wanting to win. I’m so glad that each of you are thinking of your health and are wanting to try new things. I wish I had a giant jar of this coconut oil to send all of you but I can’t do that. There’s only one jar. And that jar goes to….. George (aka Tumblemoose)!!

These are all yours, George!!!

When I went to Random.org, it chose comment #24. This was George’s second comment in the contest (you were allowed four):

24 Tumblemoose { 04.29.09 at 9:08 am }

Hi Michele,

I tweeted this, too (from @tumblemoose)!

Tumblemooses last blog post..Tumblemoose Times – A writer’s newsletter

I thought you’d love to know what George said in his first comment, which was answering the question of why he wanted to win:

7 Tumblemoose { 04.28.09 at 8:34 am }

Michele,

This Alaskan boy dreams of darn near anything tropical at the end of a harsh Alaskan winter. Mmmmm coconut, mmmm.

I’d use it as a soothing after shave balm for me head and face. I also like the idea of salad dressing with a squeeze of lime!

Cheers!

George

Tumblemooses last blog post..Tumblemoose Times – A writer’s newsletter

I love it that George says he’ll use the coconut oil for his face as after shave and for his bald head (Guys, did you hear that? Try it out!). It’s something I didn’t mention in the list of possible uses–very clever, George! And I can’t wait for you to try it on your salad–it’s delish! ;-) I’ll be in contact with you to get your mailing address. Congrats–now we can glow together!!!

UPDATED TO ADD:

I forgot to say that those of you who didn’t win should truly invest in Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil (and the book) as soon as you can fit it into your budget. This is a worthwhile investment, you all!! And if you missed the contest, or if you’re new to Healing with (Raw) Juices, please take a moment to read the review I wrote about Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil and the book.

In future contests, you’ll be competing for raw nuts, goji berries, raw nut butters, and more–so don’t miss out on upcoming posts!
